I decided to do this for fun every tuesday.
this week's topic? NOSTALIGA INDUCERS.
stuff that just.. stirs up all the nostalgia in me.
10: Pokemon game music, the theme song of the show (and Digimon)
The music from the original Pokemon games. Red, Blue, and Yellow. also, second gen: Gold, Silver, and Crystal. now, i LOVE POKEMON. i still do. so why is it only #10? BECAUSE i still love it.
since i'm still playing new pokemon games that come out, and still playing old ones, it doesn't stir up all that nostalgia in me to hear the old games. that's not to say it brings none at all. there are so many memories with pokemon ~
hearing the old music just brings back such nice feelings.
Route 1 music
GSC surf music
and, the first season of the show! i always watched it as a kid. how can't i include it?
I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS
I'll brieflymention Digimon here, too. The 'Mon things were just.. cool.
DIGIMON ARE THE CHAMPIONS
9: Sailor Moon and Cardcaptors
cardcaptors, man.
somehow, there's not much that i specifically remember from the show but.. still. same with sailor moon.
i included them both here because.. they're both staple MAGICAL GIRL series, ahaa
.. i think the "transformation" scenes kinda turned me on without me knowing. *shot*
the theme songs <3 Cardcaptors theme
Sailor Moon theme
8: Dragon Ball
On that note, i have to mention dragon ball. i always watched dragon ball z even though it was one of the MANY shows i tried to pass off as "boring"
also, it had the best theme song ever.
DRAGON DRAGON BALL. DRAGON BAL LZZZZEEEEEeEEEEEEEE!
it's recently come to my attention that dragon ball z had a different theme song AND dub group in america. i weep for your childhoods
7: Virtual Pets (Tamagotchi/Gigapets)
I had a little Gigapet and it was a dinosaur. one day i came home from school to find him on the table.. DEAD. i was so sad.
then he reincarnated.
these things are just awesome. no question.
6: Uh Oh!
This was a cool little game show for kids. I liked to watch it as a little kid and now, looking back, i can still appreciate it!
Uh Oh!
5: Don't you put it in your mouth
There was a nice little canadian public service announcement in the 90s. it had two slightly unintentionally scary puppets singing about.. not putting things in your mouth.
looking at it now.. oh goodness, INNUENDO much!
I LOVE YOU, CAN I EAT THE GUITAR? *NOM*
also, a couple other PSAs i used to see.
he's just a tv.
i can't forget the north american house hippo.
4: Richard Scarry
For some reason, he invokes more nostalgia in me than dr. seuss. busytown! i used to name every worm i saw on the street lowly.
i had lowly worm's apple car as a kid.
3: Little Critter
A children's book thing that i couldn't help but remember.
2: Crazy Bones
Yeah, i thought these were really cool as a kid. i collected some of them. and yknow what? i miss them D:
what wikipedia has to say.
(also, in case it's been taken off already, someone added to the bottom of that page
"Coa Cola variation
they created cocaine"
LOL.)
1: Lamb Chop
lamb chop. oh goodness.
i loved lamb chop. recently i watched as many videos from lamb chop's playalong as i could find. it's still easy to appreciate as you get older. parents probably loved watching it as much as their kids. something about shari lewis was cool and charismatic. the characters were pretty fun and.. sfmdsfkfdggfhgfhdfgdhgfjkkkkkkhgfjkhhhhgfkhkhkhkh COME BACK, CHILDHOOD
it's.. oh so extremely nostalgic for me arghhhhhh that's why it's #1
oh, the intro..
and if you're one of those kids who lives by the rule that sad is bad and happy is cool..
this is the song that doesn't end...
SO YEAH.
THERE'S MY FIRST TOP TEN LIST.
nostalgic stuff.
bye i'm gonna go weep for my childhood past
